In 2025, South Seas was honoured to provide on-site technical support for the Kiaka Gold Mine project, a flagship gold development in Burkina Faso, West Africa, jointly developed by Lycopodium and Kiaka SA. The project aims to establish a modern, highly automated large-scale open-pit mining operation.

  • The scope of South Seas' services was comprehensive and included:
  • On-site technical handover for the E-house, low-voltage switchboards, and variable frequency drive (VSD) systems
  • Terminal wiring coordination and functional testing of the control system
  • Equipment installation assistance and placement verification
  • Technical support and fault response during system commissioning
  • Basic training for local operations and maintenance personnel, along with documentation handover guidance
South Seas deployed a team of experienced engineers to the site, overcoming challenges such as extreme heat, heavy dust, and language barriers to ensure the successful commissioning of the electrical systems and smooth transition into the production phase as scheduled.
This service delivery not only demonstrated South Seas' engineering responsiveness in international project execution but also strengthened the strategic collaboration with Lycopodium and Kiaka SA — laying a solid foundation for future expansion into global mining ventures.
